A Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) candidate has questioned the impartiality of the caretaker Sindh government, besides raising other issues including safety and security of voters in Karachi and threats from the perceived militant wings of certpolitical parties.
Advocate Saify Ali Khan, PML-Q candidate for PS-110, in a letter written to Chief Election Commissioner a few days back raised the issues. The letter, a copy of which is available with Business Recorder, stated that: "No changes are witnessed in the Election Commission and same officers with local affiliations are still sitting in their home towns. PEC of all the three provinces except Balochistan has been changed and whereas PEC Balochistan is reported as a much junior and locally affiliated person.
That unlike other provinces of Pakistan, no proper bureaucratic changes are observed in the Sindh Province and all the important posts are still occupied by the partial officers who were appointed by the former PPP-led coalition government. Further anxiety about free and fair elections is that the Caretaker government of Sindh and bureaucrats are not impartial; including the Chief Minister Sindh who is the best friend of Ayaz Soomro and Awais Tappi, who are candidates of PPP for upcoming election.
In fact these bureaucrats of Sindh were appointed on the choice of the former government thereby in this situation nobody can believe on the holding of fair and free elections of 2013, therefore undersigned request would be for the transfer of the high level bureaucracy a must for holding of impartial elections.
That it is pertinent to mention here that Supreme Court of Pakistan has pleased to pass the Order for the eliminating of the no-go areas and Rangers are doing their work to remove the barriers from the different areas but the rangers can not alone protect the voters life from the militant wings, which are threatening the people for about casting their right of vote and even they can not support anybody openly.
That in the light of above facts and circumstances the undersigned complainant is praying for taking action against all the illegalities and misappropriations, and, to protect the candidates and making arrangement for fearless election campaign and if this time also proper appropriate actions are not taken by the present election commission of Pakistan then it would be a very harmful and disastrous situation for the solidarity of Pakistan Undersigned highly hope for the good co-operation from the Election Commission of Pakistan and only you can change the fate of the nation. If transparent elections were held the future of Pakistan will be bright, Insha Allah," letter concluded.
