At least six persons including a father and his son were killed while two others including a woman sustained injuries in separate armed ambushes at various parts of the metropolis, here on Saturday. According to police and rescue sources, armed assailants gunned down a man and his son near Asma Garden Apartment located at Metroville-3D, Gulshan-e-Iqbal in the limits of Mobina Town police station.
Police said the deceased, who have been identified as Kalbe Abbas 55, son of Qurban Ali and his son Musarrat Abbas, 25, were hit by multiple bullet. They added that they might have been killed over sectarian ground. The deceased were the residents of Malir area and hailed from interior Sindh. No case was registered till filing of this report.
Kashif, 38, son of Anwar was gunned down near Dhobi Ghat at Shah Faisal Colony No 2. Police said the victim was Sector In-charge of Sunni Tehrik. He was the resident of same area and used to run a pharmacy. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A bullet-riddled body of a youth was recovered from Steel Town area. Police said the victim has been identified as Aamir, 30 alias Lamba son of Sheik Nawab, adding that he was kidnapped and then killed after severe torture. Police said he was active worker of MQM Unit 34 and might have been killed, due to political affiliation.
Shah Mehmood, 35, son of Shah Zareen was shot dead at Musharraf Colony in the limits of Mochko police station. Police said Mehmood might have been killed over personal grounds.
A student of B-Pharmacy namely Raja Junaid, son of Parvez Anjum was gunned down at his residence at Abdullah Goth in the jurisdiction of Shah Latif police station. Police said some four persons barged into his house for looting purposes but the victim recognised one of them that cost him his life.
Similarly, 25-year-old Akbar Ali, son of Ashique Ali and Naheed Akhtar sustained bullet wounds in separate armed ambushes at Jahangir Road No 2 and Port Qasim areas, respectively. Police said the victims were shifted to Civil and Jinnah hospitals, respectively for treatment where doctors declared Naheed's condition as critical.
