Election 2013: Sindh chief minister asks officers to show neutrality, impartiality
Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister former justice Zahid Qurban Alvi has warned the officers concerned to be impartial and avoid favouring any one during the process of forthcoming general elections, failing which strict action would be taken against them.
This he observed while addressing the meeting with political leaders and members of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mirpurkhas Division, Chamber of Agriculture Mirpurkhas Division, notables, growers at Old Zila Nazim Secretariat Hyderabad on Saturday.
He announced that a complaint cell was being established at the CM House to receive the complaints, if any to contesting candidates and in case any officer found guilty, he/she would be removed with immediate effect. However, the Caretaker Sindh CM advised the leaders to lodge their true and genuine complaints with evidences and particular reference so that action would be taken with immediate effect.
He said the purpose behind the reshuffling in the bureaucracy was to remove the apprehensions of the contesting candidates, adding that impartiality of that caretaker government could be gauged from its steps to ensure fair and free elections and assured that polling booths would be fully secured in addition to maintain law and order situation pre and post elections.
Addressing the members of CCI, Chamber of Agriculture Mirpurkhas Division, notables and growers, the caretaker Sindh CM said that being opinion leaders of the society, they had to play their key role in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the society. While responding delay in distribution in gunny bags (Bardana) among the growers, he said it was delayed due to bringing some essential reforms and administrative action in Food Department, adding that some malpractices were reported in Food Department as such "we compelled to take action against defaulters in the interest of growers and government."
To another query, he said "in order to remove the apprehensions of contesting candidates, we took the decision across the Board, while responding the complaint about judicious supply of irrigation water."
Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister directed the Divisional Commissioner Mirpurkhas for taking strict action against the defaulters. The leaders of PPP, PML-F, Peoples Muslim League and other parties attended the meeting and apprised their apprehensions/problems of the Caretaker Sindh CM.
Later on, addressing the cheques distribution ceremony arranged by District Zakat and Ushr Committee Hyderabad, the Caretaker Sindh CM said he was aware of the problems being faced by the beneficiaries in the context of their CNICs preparation, adding that some bottlenecks were being experienced due to Nadra system and some had been brought in the notice of Nadra management.
Caretaker Sindh Minister for Zakat and Ushr Khalid Latif in his speech said that efforts were being made to bring transparency in the distribution of Zakat fund among the beneficiaries. He said that "we are appointed for limited period but the delivery of caretaker cabinet including his ministry would be exemplary and historical one."
Chairman District Zakat & Ushr Committee Hyderabad Sher Mohammad Pirzada said that an amount of Rs 3.7 million was still lying unutilised with his office and the heads of educational institutions were not responding his repeatedly request for providing the list of deserving candidates / students. On this occasion, the Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister also distributed the cheques of Rs 840,000 among the poor people, widows and students of various schools.
