Punjab Chief Secretary Javed Iqbal has said that unscheduled load-shedding should be ended immediately in the province and its schedule should be observed. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting for reviewing the load-shedding situation in Punjab, disclosed an official. Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries Energy, Home, Housing, Industries, Agriculture, Labour, Information, Commissioner Lahore and heads of power distribution companies attended the meeting.
The Chief Secretary said the federal government will be contacted for overcoming the situation of worst load-shedding in Punjab. He stressed that the increasing load-shedding should be controlled immediately and its duration be minimised. "The effective steps should be taken to check wastage of electricity and saving electricity by utilising resources properly," he added. According to him, load-shedding of electricity will be reduced in the province due to two holidays in a week. Provision of electricity should be ensured to industries in big cities, particularly Faisalabad and Gujranwala, so that industries could be saved from loss.
He directed the WASA officers to make arrangements of generators for ensuring provision of potable water to the citizens during load-shedding. He said such steps should be taken for providing electricity that could help provide immediate relief to the consumers.
