The representatives of all major political parties of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have pledged joint efforts for the resolution of the national issue of education and leaving no stone unturned in this regard.
They expressed this resolve while speaking in a dialogue organised under the auspices of the Institute of Social and Policy Sciences (I-SAPS) in collaboration with Alif-Ealan here at a local hotel.
In the dialogue, Azam Khan Afridi, Misal Khan (PPP), Bushra Gohar, Khadim Hussein (ANP), Abdul Jalil Jan, Asif Iqbal Daudzai (JUI-F), Khadim Ali Yusufzai, Afzal Paniyala, (PML-N), Mohammad Shah, Shabir Ahmad Khan (Jamaat-i-Islami), Meraj Hamayun (Qaumi Watan Party) and Rabia Basri (PTI) represented their respectively political parties.
The participants of the dialogue on this occasion also signed a joint communiqué for the development of education. In their joint declaration the representatives of all political parties acknowledged education crisis an issue faced by the country required joint efforts of all politicians. They pledged that in capacity of politician and champion of the interest of the people, they will leave no stone unturned for the promotion of education.
They further declared that they will also make all out efforts for practical implementation of all such measures and will practically support every effort, movement or campaign for guaranteeing implementation of the following agenda. The representatives of different political parties called for legislation for practical enforcement of the Article 25-A of the constitution and its practical implementation within a period of 3 to 4 years.
The declaration also called for bringing the utilisation of the development budget of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa instead of political priorities to ground realities and need basis and guaranteeing the timely release and utilisation of the development funds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The declaration also advocates the provision of school education budget and funds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Article 25-A and extending of financial resources for the provision of lacking facilities on priority basis and limiting of the educational block grants in the province to 25 per cent.
It also called for increasing the proportion of the non-salary budget in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and maximum increase in the allocations for the training of the on service teachers and provision of land and financial resources for establishment of schools in all private sector residential colonies of the province.
