A roadside bomb planted by the Taliban in Mingora killed a local ANP leader on Sunday, a month before the country votes in a historic general election, while a ANP candidate from PK-21 and three others were injured in another bomb attack in Katozai area of district Charsadda. The blast in the Swat valley, comes a day after militants blew up the office of an independent candidate in North Waziristan tribal district.
Sunday's blast killed a local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP). Mukarram Shah, a local leader of ANP, was travelling to Mingora when his vehicle was targeted by an IED (improvised explosive device), around 12 kilometres north-east of Mingora city.
Police rushed to the site of incident to know the cause of tragic incident. In second incident occurred in Katozai area of district Charsadda, four ANP workers including a candidate from PK-21, Syed Masoom Shah were injured in an explosion near their convoy. They were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. Syed Masoom Shah was special assistant to former chief minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti.
ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, provincial president, Senator Afrasiab Khattak, general secretary Arbab Mohammad Tahir Khan Khalil and secretary information Malik Ghulam Mustafa have condemned bomb attack on the vehicle of ANP activist and party convoy in Katozai area of district Charsadda.
They expressed deep grief and sorrow over the incidents and said that the leadership and workers of ANP could not be demoralised through such nefarious attacks. They said that ANP had played front line role in war against terrorism and will continue sacrifices for restoration of peace to the province.
PM condemns killing:
Prime Minister Hazar Khan Khoso and Federal Interior Minister Malik Habib Khan have also condemned the killing of ANP leader Mukarram Shah in a bomb explosion.
While condemning the incident, the prime minister has sought report from the relevant official regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the federal interior minister also sought a report on the incident from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
AFP add: Taliban claimed responsibility of the attack saying all secular parties and their leaders were in their crosshairs.
"We have already announced we will attack ANP and other secular parties," Ehsanullah Ehsan, a spokesman for Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, told AFP on phone.
