The Karachi Port handled 261,168 tonnes of cargo comprising 175,791 tonnes of import cargo and 85,377 tonnes of export cargo including 6,503 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 175,791 tonnes comprised 74,789 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,721 tonnes of general cargo; 11,300 tonnes of coal and 83,981 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 85,377 tonnes comprised 74,963 tonnes of containerised cargo; 549 tonnes of general cargo and 9,865 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,853 tonnes of cement; 6,568 tonnes of rice and 1,444 tonnes of sugar. As many as 6,503 containers comprising 2,146 containers import and 4,357 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,016 of 20's and 565 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,001 of 20's and 643 of 40's loaded containers while 798 of 20's and 636 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are nine ships namely APL Seattle, Santa Rosa, YM South, Venetiko, King Fortune, Al-Salam-II, MT Quetta, Oriental Nadeshiko and Ikan Parang with four container ships, one general cargo ship, three oil tankers and one coal carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are seven vessels viz Venetiko, Maliakos, Hyundai Confidence, Kota Arif, Oriental Nadeshiko and King Fortune with five container ships, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. There are three ships namely Maliakos, Hyundai Confidence and Al-Qadisia with two container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Monday.
There are two vessels viz Oriental Rosa and Brighoil Legend with one ethanol tanker and one crude oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz Kota Ganteng, Ponent, UASC Samarra, Universal Bangkok and King Bright with three container ships, one coal carrier and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 78,536 tonnes comprising 37,596 tonnes of import cargo and 40,940 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,422 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 37,596 tonnes includes 960 tonnes of MEG; 8,564 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 2,479 tonnes of wheat and 25,593 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 40,940 tonnes includes 1,515 tonnes of rice and 39,425 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,422 containers comprising 1,347 containers import and 2,075 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There are two ships namely CV Lantau Arrow and CV MSC Levina with containers sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while another ship namely CV Maersk Kentucky with containers is expected to sail on Monday afternoon. A total number of eight vessels viz CV Lantau Arrow, CV MSC Levina, CV Maersk Kentucky, Dai Duong Sunrise, MV Recon Emer, MV Faith, MT Atlantic Glory and MT Chemroad Journey are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, sand crush, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely Alliance St. Louis and Argent Eye Bright with containers and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz CV Alliance St. Louis, CV Nysted Maersk and Argent Eye Bright with containers and palm oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
There are two ships namely CV Hanjin Los Angeles and CV CMA CGM Moliere with containers due to arrive on Tuesday. There are three vessels viz CV CMA CGM Rossini, CV CMA CGM Amber and MT Amavist with containers and project cargo are also due to arrive as per arrival schedule.
