Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) on Wednesday demanded of the government to take stern action against the elements involved in defaming PMA for their vested interests. Addressing a news conference at Karachi Press Club, Secretary General PMA Dr Mirza Ali Azhar said that PMA had built a village for IDPs of Sindh after floods in 2010, comprising of 100 houses.
"This project was completed in a record time of 400 days and it was inaugurated on December 16, 2012 by Abdul Sattar Edhi," he added. This village has a School, Community Centre, Dispensary and a Vocational Training Centre. The village is situated at Gujjo (Near Gharo), District Thatta. Both of these projects were built to help the poor people of this country with sincerity and devotion by MDA-UK and PMA.
He said that they employed Rafiq Jalbani and his wife to run the affairs of this model village for social development of the community besides both husband and wife were being paid a handsome package of salary with the facility' of a vehicle and driver. "After some time we felt that some immoral activities were going on there and some of our employees instead of performing their duties were busy in these unacceptable activities. Our committee looked into the matter and expelled these employees according to the rules and regulations," he informed.
He said the same group of people was continuously defaming and blackmailing Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) and planning a protest against PMA by self-immolating at Karachi Press Club on 20th April 2013. He requested IG Sindh, Commissioner Karachi, and Chief Secretary and the caretaker government to stop these 'blackmailers' from defaming PMA.
