Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the fate of the people and the country could not be changed without eradicating corruption and the system that protected it. Addressing corner meeting in his constituency, NA 126 on Wednesday, he said that although the Supreme Court was taking commendable steps to wipe out corruption but the masses had not got the relief they had been expecting so far.
Liaqat Baloch said that Pakistan was achieved in the name of Islam and it was unfortunate that even after 65 years of its creation, the nation had not achieved the goal for which it had rendered huge sacrifices. Feudal lords and vaderas had been ruling the country so far and had least concern about the problems of the common man. Unfortunately, the civil and military establishment also supported these people with the result that the plight of the people worsened with every passing day.
The JI leader said that the Election Commission's directive against seeking vote on the basis of religion was an attempt to please the secular lobby. However, he made it clear that no one would be allowed to convert this country achieved in the name of Islam into secular state. He believed that the solution to the problems of the people and the country lay only in faithful adherence to the golden and everlasting teachings of Islam.
