HRW wheat bids flat

Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat were unchanged on Thursday in the southern US Plains and Gulf export markets, and country movement was hushed, dealers said. Another round of freezing temperatures in the southern Plains probably harmed more of the winter wheat crop. Temperatures fell to the low to mid-20s (degrees Fahrenheit) in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles early Thursday and more widespread freezing was expected Friday, a forecaster said.
Crops in north-west Kansas were in such poor condition following drought last autumn and winter, followed by frost damage this month, that some producers planned to tear up the wheat and plant spring crops instead, a dealer said.
