Activists of Awami National Party's students wing have expressed great concerns over poor security arrangements for the party leadership, demanded of the interim government and Election Commission of Pakistan, to take prompt steps for provision of adequate security.
Speaking at a news conference here at press club on Saturday, Pakhtun Students Federation (PSF), Central President Bashir Sherpao said that the caretaker government was prime duty to provide appropriate security to political parties leaders, especially ANP's candidates in KP.
Despite apparently threats to ANP's from militants' wings, he said that the security was withdrawn from its leadership. We condemn the growing suicide attacks and targeting killing against the party, he deplored. He added that attacks were occurring against the leadership due to poor security arrangements.
Flanked by the federation provincial president Taj Mohammad Wazir, general secretary Riaz Marwat, Sangeen Shah and others, he said ANP's had become forefront in the ongoing war against terrorism, and rendered sacrifices of leaders and workers for establishment of peace.
"We will not deter from such weaken attempts, and would continue struggle for restoration of lasting peace on the Pakhtun soil", he vowed. He said that students' activists would play role to disseminate party message door-to-door and will hold corner meetings at all cost, he determined. The PSF central president stressed that equal level playing field for candidates of political parties, demanding of the interim government and Election Commission of Pakistan, to take stern action against the growing attacks on ANP leaders, and to make adequate security arrangements for them.
