Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said the PPP-led previous government has ruined the country's economy as well as institutions through rampant corruption. "Today, Pakistan is in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the face of economy, while banks are facing difficulties due to faulty economic policies of the government," Nawaz said.
While addressing the PML-N activists, Nawaz said if voted to power, as a result of May 11 elections, the PML-N government would take revolutionary steps for the revival of the country's economy. Terming political intervention in banks and financial institutions as a dacoity on deposits of people, Nawaz said the PPP looted public money by taking loans from banks illegally. Nevertheless, political interference in the affairs of banks and financial institutions tantamount to pillaging the national exchequer, he added.
He said PML-N was well aware of difficulties faced by the country's financial sector. "We would evolve solid economic policies to provide strong foundations to the country's economy," he said. The PML-N President said when the PML-N was in power, the country's economy was in very good shape. "Economy of a country is dependent on the performance of its financial institutions, but our economy is in shambles and banks are in trouble because of poor policies of the PPP government," he added.
