Participants at a seminar on electioneering process have asked the government to take further steps for creating conducive environment to voters during the election especially for women. They further said that it was eminent to create awareness regarding the significance of vote, particularly women role in electoral process. It was prime duty of the Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure implementation of basic code of conduct regarding the elections, they stressed.
The seminar titled: "ECP Code of Conduct for the Election" organised by Association for Creation of Employment (ACE) in collaboration with Free, and Fair Election Network (Fafen) here at press club on Monday. Participants were included, candidates from various political and religious along with independent, members of civil society and other representatives of relevant stakeholders.
Zubair Ambia, Programme Co-ordinator, ACE's on occasion elaborated the key objectives of holding this activity, and informed they had formed a group of independent observers more than 43,000 for monitoring of the electioneering process. He further said according to the ECP data, the turnout of women voters was remained very slow in more than 50 polling stations in two constituencies of National Assembly, NA-2 and NA-4 in the elections of 2008.
