The Karachi Port handled 311,362 tonnes of cargo comprising 247,056 tonnes of import cargo and 64,306 tonnes of export cargo including 5,031 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 247,056 tonnes comprised 76,252 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5 tonnes of general cargo; 26,095 tonnes of coal and 144,704 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 64,306 tonnes comprised 61,885 tonnes of containerised cargo; 950 tonnes of general cargo; 1,471 tonnes of bulk cargo: 316 tonnes of cement and 1,155 tonnes of sugar. As many as 5,031 containers comprising 1,540 containers import and 3,491 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 714 of 20's and 356 of 40's loaded while 98 of 20's and 8 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,069 of 20's and 581 of 40's loaded containers while 320 of 20's and 470 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are twelve ships namely APL Guangzhou, Seattle Bridge, YM West, Amanda, Scirocco, Lodestar Genesis, MT Quetta, Universal Bangkok, Sofia, Sireen B, Nadeem and Sea Maple with four container ships, three oil tankers, two coal carriers, one cement carrier, one sugar carrier and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are nine vessels viz Seattle Bridge, Ponente, Amanda, MOL Direction, Hanjin Montevideo, Scirocco, MT Quetta, Kalamas and Freja Hafnia with five container ships and four oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths. One ship namely Ponente with containers sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely Imara and Kalamas with one container ship and one oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are three vessels viz Imara, Manas and Veruda with one container ship, one base oil tanker and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Monday, while three vessels viz UASC Khor, Kota Karim and Maha B with two container ships and one project cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 73,773 tonnes comprising 63,454 tonnes of import cargo and 10,319 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,200 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 63,454 tonnes includes 21,643 tonnes of diesel oil and 41,811 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 10,319 tonnes includes 3,910 tonnes of rice; 2,020 tonnes of wheat and 4,389 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are four ships namely CV MSC Levina, CV Maersk Carolina, MV Mercy Wisdom and MT Al-Kuwaitiah with containers, wheat and diesel oil sailed out to sea on Monday afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz CV Maersk Carolina, MV Mercy Wisdom, MT Al-Kuwaitiah and MV Diamond Sea are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, diesel oil and rice respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely Sealand Michigan, Asphalt Merchant, Inlaco Accord, Sofia, Maha-B, Bremen and HHL Venica with containers, bitumen, wheat, cement, project cargo, equipment and general cargo are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are seven vessels viz CV Sealand Michigan, CV Nysted Maersk, MT Asphalt Merchant, MV, Inlaco Accord, MV Sofia, MV Maha-B and MV HHL Venica with containers, bitumen, wheat, cement, project cargo and general cargo are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal(MW-1,2,3&4) and Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) respectively on Monday. No ships namely due to arrive on Monday as per arrival schedule.
