The Supreme Court on Wednesday accepted the plea of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for more time to submit a comprehensive report on details of action taken in pursuance of apex court''s verdict in Rental Power Plants (RPP) scam. A three-judge bench of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of a progress report from NAB in response to the RPP judgement implementation case.
The court had issued directives to NAB to submit a one-page progress report in the current matter. At the outset of hearing, Prosecutor General NAB K K Agha submitted a report relating to actions taken in 12 RPPs saying their investigation was at different stages and prayed the bench to keep the report classified.
Agha also prayed to grant more time to finalise the report to which the Chief Justice asked if NAB was granted more time would it then be in apposition to submit challans against the accused before the court. Demonstrating a critical attitude, the Chief Justice further observed that the investigation officer had committed to the court that the entire investigation in the current matter would be completed by December 2013.
