A full bench of the Lahore High Court on Friday allowed PML-Q's former MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain to contest the election from Gujrat NA-104. An election tribunal, headed by Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh had disqualified him on April 17 while accepting an appeal filed by former MPA Nawabzada Ghazanfar Ali Gull. Gill had accused Wajahat of getting bank loans written off and concealing his assets in the nomination papers.
Chaudhry Wajahat challenged this order before LHC, contending that he could not be qualified on the basis of mere allegations. He submitted that he had paid back all bank loans, adding that despite all this, the tribunal had rejected his nomination papers. The bench accepted his appeal and declared the election tribunal's decision null and void, allowing him to contest elections.
