Punjab University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kaman said that there is a lack of confidence in young generation but it can achieve landmarks. He was addressing the inaugural session of a national seminar on "Engineering Materials and Their Performance 2013" organised by College of Engineering and Emerging Technologies' Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at seminar hall of Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology here on Tuesday.
Vice Chancellor University of Education Professor Dr Faizul Hassan, Rector University of Lahore Dr Muhammad Saleem Shuja, former PU professor Dr Ejaz Hussain Khan, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Emerging Technologies Professor Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, College Principal Professor Dr Rafique Ahmed, researchers from various institutions, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Dr Kamran said that the region has produced great personalities like Dr AQ Khan and Dr Abdus Salaam. He advised them to be expert of their subject and enhance their reading habits. Giving keynote presentation on engineering materials and their performance, Dr Faiz-ul-Hassan said that material sciences played an important role in advancement of technology as it introduced innovations. He said that automobile industry has created awareness among the quarters concerned but a lot of work is needed to be done.
Dr Rafique Ahmed briefed the participants on the development activities in the college and said that the seminar would provide an opportunity to the students to learn from veteran researchers of metallurgy and material sciences. Later, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran presented souvenirs among the distinguished guests and distributed certificates among the students who showed outstanding performance in Model United Nations conference.
