The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday directed Ministry of Interior to submit on May 6 a report on the execution of orders passed against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin in the Musharraf escape case. The IHC, Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, while hearing the case expressed his displeasure over the absence of additional secretary interior and ordered his immediate appearance in the court.
Deputy Attorney General told the court that a proposal for constituting a three-member committee to carry out an investigation against IGP Bani Amin has been sent to the establishment division. The committee comprises senior bureaucrat Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Shahid Rashid and Shahidullah Beg, he said. He further told the court that the names of the three police officers have also been sent to the establishment division for appointment of a new IGP. Later, the additional secretary interior arrived in the court. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till May 6 and ordered the ministry of interior to submit a report on actions taken against Bani Amin.
