The Karachi Port handled 44,230 tonnes of cargo comprising 23,638 tonnes of import cargo and 20,592 tonnes of export cargo including 2,817 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 23,638 tonnes comprised 23,633 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5 tonnes of general cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,592 tonnes comprised 8,358 tonnes of containerised cargo; 234 tonnes of general cargo; 10,960 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,040 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,817 containers comprising 1,846 containers import and 971 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 647 of 20's and 406 of 40's loaded while 281 of 20's and 53 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 211 of 20's and 173 of 40's loaded containers while 50 of 20's and 182 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There is one ship with containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are five vessels with two container ships, one cement carrier and two oil tankers respectively are currently at the berths. There are seven vessels viz Santa Rosa, Kota Gembira, Posen, APL Brisbane, UAFL Zanzibar, Cape Merin and Mid Fighter with six container ships and one ethanol tanker respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 81,605 tonnes comprising 37,850 tonnes of import cargo and 43,755 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,255 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 37,850 tonnes includes 10,040 tonnes of phosphoric acid; 6,371 tonnes of project cargo and 21,439 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 43,755 tonnes includes 7,667 tonnes of cement; 4,036 tonnes of rice and 32,052 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There are two ships namely CV Nysted Maersk and MV Diamond Sea with containers and wheat respectively sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while another ship namely CV Maersk Kingston with containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning. A total number of ten vessels viz CV Maersk Kingston, CV Nysted Maersk, CV Al-Abdali, MV Diamond Sea, MV Sofia, MV Belsize Park, MV Encore, MV Kiana Pioneer, MV Veruda and MV KPS-1 Alican Bey are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, project cargo, phosphoric acid and power ship respectively during the last 24 hours. One ship namely Atlantic Glory with MEG is currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are four vessels viz CV CMA CGM Chopin, MV Astra Centaurs, MV Chang Pyuang and MV Atlantic Glory with containers, iron ore, wheat and MEG are expected to take berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth (IOCB), Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
