The body of Indian spy, Sarabjit Singh, was flown to India from Lahore airport on Thursday. The Jinnah hospital administration handed over the body of Sarabjit Singh to the Indian consulate officials. Later, the body was taken to Amritsar in a special Indian airliner plane. Singh was injured critically when his fellow prisoners, Amir Tanba and Mudasir, attacked him at Kot Lakhpat Jail on April 26.
Later, he died of cardiac arrest during treatment at Jinnah Hospital late on Wednesday night. It may be noted that the court of law had convicted Singh for a bomb attack in Faisalabad in 1990. His mercy petitions were rejected by former president Pervez Musharraf.
Singh's family had been advocating that the deceased was arrested when he crossed the border while drunk and finally became a victim of mistaken identity. Singh has left a widow, two daughters and a sister, who recently visited Lahore to inquire after his health and returned to India on last Tuesday.
