Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Dr Riaz Ahmed Memon has constituted eight recovery teams comprised Wasa officials and Sindh Police and has directed for launching recovery operation from May 14, in all urban Talukas of Hyderabad district. This he decided while presiding over a meeting regarding recovery of Wasa outstanding against individuals and organisations at his office on Friday.
Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad said that since Wasa was delivering services of drinking water and drainage facilities to the citizens but was not being paid the bills accordingly, thus had put the organisation into deficit and the gap was being widening time to time.
During the discussing, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that as many as Rs 2822.749 million so far had been piled up against the water defaulters, while only Rs 24.5 million were being recovered against Rs 51.027 million expenditure of Wasa on salary and other heads.
