Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) collected record revenue of Rs 2.92 billion in the head of sales tax on services during April 2013 which represents an increase of 16 percent over Rs 2.52 billion collected during March 2013. The progressive revenue collection of Sindh sales tax on services during first 10 months of 2012-13 (ie up to April 2013) stands at Rs 27.75 billion which represents an increase of 39 percent over Rs 19.94 billion collected (during the comparable first 10 months of 2011-12).
"The SRB is on course to achieve the assigned revenue target of Rs 32 billion for 2012-13, which represents an increase of 28 percent over the figures of Rs 25.01 billion collected during 2011-12 without any increase in tax base or in tax rate," said Tashfeen K Niaz, Incharge Chairman SRB.
Talking to Business Recorder, Tashfeen said SRB appreciates the tax compliance and co-ordination received from the SRB-registered persons which is reflected in the aforesaid commendable performance of SRB in revenue collection. He added that this also manifests taxpayers' confidence in SRB systems and procedures. The SRB resolves to continue working in close co-ordination with its taxpayers and stakeholders in the interest of Sindh in general and its trading/business community and service providers in particular.
