Pakistan number one Amir Atlas Khan produced a scintillating performance on Saturday in FMC 17th Asian Individual Squash Championship on Saturday and reserved a berth in the final. Amir Atlas outwitted Malaysia's Muhammad Asyref Azan in straight sets 11-5, 11-5, 11-6.
There was, however, no double joy for Pakistan as in the second semi-final prodigious Farhan Mehboob's fairy-tale run finally came to an end. He lost to Abdullah Al Mezayan of Kuwait 11-8, 11-3, 14-2. In the women first semifinal, Low Wee Wern of Malaysia defeated Joey Chan in a gruelling four-setter. Wern lived up to her billing as she overcame Joe Chan 11-7, 4-11, 11-4, 11-9. In the second semi-final Annie Au of Hong Kong came from behind to rout Delia Arnold of Malaysia. After losing first set she registered victories in the next three sets. Both players displayed superb retrieving abilities but Annie kept her nerves to finish the fixture 9-11, 11-6, 12-10, 11-9. The finals will be played on Sunday.
