WEDNESDAY MAY 01: Provisional figures: Rs 74.668 billion ST, FED collected during April
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue has provisionally collected Rs 74.668 billion sales tax and federal excise duty (FED) during April 2013 against monthly target of Rs 102.904 billion, reflecting a target achievement of 72.56 percent. Sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday that the monthly target of Rs 102.904 billion would be achieved following compilation of final figures in coming days.
The FBR has to collect Rs 28.236 billion till compilation of final figures to meet remaining target of 27.44 percent out of assigned target of Rs 102.904 billion for April 2013. Apparently, the Board is facing an uphill task to reach the assigned target of sales tax and FED to the tune of Rs 102.904 billion by the end of April 2013. The FBR has provisionally collected Rs 74.668 billion sales tax and federal excise duty (FED) during April 2013 against Rs 70.931 billion in the corresponding period of last fiscal, showing an improvement of 5.27 percent.
According to the latest data compiled by the FBR, net sales tax collection was Rs 65.418 billion during April 2013 against Rs 61.727 billion during same period last fiscal year, showing an increase of 5.98 percent. Sales tax collection at domestic stage was Rs 33.965 billion during the period under review against Rs 29.900 billion in the same period last fiscal, depicting an increase of 13.59 percent. Sales tax collection at the import stage was Rs 31.453 billion in April 2013 against Rs 31.826 billion in the same period last fiscal, showing a negative growth of 1.17 percent.
The federal excise duty (FED) collection during April 2013 amounted to Rs 9.249 billion against Rs 9.204 billion in the same period last fiscal, showing a growth of 0.49 percent. Break-up of FED collection revealed that the FED collection on domestic consumption was Rs 8.673 billion against Rs 8.774 billion, showing a negative growth of 1.15 percent. The FED collection at the import stage was Rs 576.34 million during April 2013 against Rs 430.35 million, showing an increase of 33.92 percent.
