The Punjab Workers Welfare Board (PWWB) has sought applications from the employees registered with the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) or the Social Security Department for marriage grants of their daughters.
The scheme, under which a grant amounting to Rs100,000 will be given against each case, is also applicable on female workers wishing to get married. "But, the lady workers can avail this facility only for one-time," official sources in the PWWB told APP here on Sunday.
Commenting on the set criteria for eligibility, they said all workers registered with the EOBI or Social Security Scheme irrespective of their salary packages having at least three year services can apply under the scheme, adding "There is no limit to file cases as all daughters of industrial workers will be accommodated under the welfare programme."
Besides, the sources said, the daughters of those workers who died during the service are eligible to avail the marriage grants provided that "The worker was registered with EOBI or Social Security Scheme and payment of death grant has been received by his/her family."
The sources advised the needy workers to submit applications with their respective offices of District Officers Labour or Assistant Mines Labour Welfare Commissioners by May 10 the last date of receiving applications.
They said the required documents including copies of worker's identity card, factory card, identity cards of bride and bridegroom, Social Security or EOBI card, appoint letter, Nikkah Nama duly attested by the respective Union Council and an affidavit on stamp paper of Rs20 duly attested by the oath commissioner must be attached with the applications.
Replying to a question about ensuring transparency in all the procedure, they said a thorough verification of the applications is carried out prior to submitting cases before the district or regional scrutiny committees by the respective labour officers.
