The Supreme Court on Tuesday served notice on Chairman Port Qasim Authority (PQA) for not complying with the apex court''s orders regarding alleged illegal appointments in the authority during the last two years. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while hearing a constitutional petition filed against "illegal" appointments in PQA, expressed displeasure over illegal inductions of 481 people in PQA even after an order of the apex court on January 11, 2011.
The court also directed the counsel for the PQA to present a complete record regarding the illegal appointments made in the authority. During the course of proceedings, Anwar Mansoor, the counsel for the PQA, requested the bench to give him time for preparation of case, adding he was not clear about the new appointments made in the authority. He assured the court that if any illegal appointment had ever been made in PQA, he would be the first one to quit the case. The court adjourned hearing for one week.
