The Lahore High Court (LHC) while issuing notices in a petition against termination of law officers of Punjab by the Punjab caretaker government sought reply from provincial secretary law till May 30. Imtiaz Ahmad Kaifi and other terminated law officers had approached the court against their removal.
The petitioner submitted that on April 16 the advocate general Punjab (AG) had undertaken before the court that no adverse action would be taken against the officers. He said that against the AG assurance, the caretaker government terminated the petitioners. He pleaded that the caretaker government was not mandated to remove them and appoint new law officers. He, therefore, prayed to set aside their termination being illegal.
