Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Syed Munawwar Hassan, has congratulated Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President, Nawaz Sharif, on the clear victory of his party in the general elections, and expressed good wishes for him. In a message of greetings for the PML-N leader, Hassan, however, said that the formation of government by PML-N would be great test of the party and its leadership and expressed the hope that it would fulfil all its promises made in the election campaign.
The JI Ameer said that the new government would have to face numerous challenges. The country's economy, industry and agriculture had been ruined and foreign and internal loans were also a great issue. The energy crisis had become serious while unemployment and price spiral had made life miserable for the people. The law and order was a serious problem. Besides, there were the issues of bilateral ties with the US, India and other major countries and the revival of the country's image in the comity of the nations.
Hassan expressed the hope that the PML-N government would adopt austerity to overcome the problem of financial crunch and provide relief to the masses.
Meanwhile, Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said he accepted the people's mandate in the election and would learn from the past mistakes.
Talking to different TV channels at his residence during the day, he, however, said that the JI would continue its struggle for the establishment of Islamic order and for safeguarding the country's ideology.
Baloch, however, deplored that the people of Karachi and Hyderabad had been denied their right to elect their representatives in a free and peaceful atmosphere.
He said that major political parties of the two cities had already dissociated themselves from the electoral process. Therefore, fresh elections must be held there, he demanded.
