The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan People's Party have won elections from the 3 National Assembly and 6 Sindh Assembly seats in Hyderabad, with the former bagging 2 NA and 4 PS seats and the latter 1 NA and 2 PS seats.
According to the unofficial results, the MQM candidate for NA-219 Latifabad Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has been polled 34,886 votes while his opponent PPP's Ali Muhammad Sehto has got 9,800 votes.
In the Latifabad based provincial assembly's constituencies, the MQM's candidates have emerged victorious with Zubair Ahmed Khan taking 86434 votes in PS-48 and Sabir Qaimakani 89393 in PS-49.
They have been followed by the PPP's Rajab Ali Khakheli with 4437 votes in PS-48 and PPP's Abdul Jabbar Khan with 6607 votes in PS-49. Likewise, the City tehsil based NA-220, PS-45 and PS-46 have also gone to the MQM, the unofficial results suggest. The MQM's Syed Waseem Hussain secured 17,230 votes and his opponent Jamiat-i-Ulema-e-Pakistan's President Sahibzada Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair 15,000 votes in NA-220.
In PS-45 constituency, the MQM's candidate Dilawar Qureshi won 64,228 votes while Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf's Usman Kennedy followed with 7,525 votes.
In PS-46, the MQM's Rashid Khilji got 67,962 votes and PTI's Ghaus Bux 5,684.
The PPP also retained the seats that it has been winning from Hyderabad since 2002 elections.
The PPP's two-time MNA Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote was elected for the third time from his NA-221, Qasimabad and Hyderabad Rural based constituency, clinching 61,079 votes while his opponent from the nationalist Sindh Taraqi Pasand party, Dr Rajab Memon, trailed far behind with 11,161 votes.
The two candidates who made their election debut in Hyderabad from the PPP platform, former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon and Jam Khan Shoro, also won from the PS-50 and PS-47 constituencies, respectively. Memon was polled 32,000 votes while his opponent, independent candidate Khawand Bux Jahejo got 17,100 votes in PS-50.
Shoro also won PS-47 by a margin of nearly 12,000 votes with 28,223 polled in his favour while his opponent, Qaumi Awami Tehrik's President Ayaz Palijo, bagging 16,324 votes.
