However, KW&SB is striving to resolve these issues within the limited resources available and running it far better. MD KW&SB discussed plans to improve KW&SB's performance and betterment in infrastructure. Delegation was also watched a KW&SB documentary regarding the infrastructure and operations. Seema Mangi and Neil Boyle praised KW&SB's performance and future plans.
World Bank Delegation expressed their concerns over disposal of sewage in sea without treatment. However, they were briefed about greater Karachi sewage treatment plant project S-III, which would not only control environmental pollution but also ensure safe environment throughout the city. The project would be completed with the co-operation of Provincial Government, Federal Government and Karachi Port Trust. The project S-III would not only improve the economy by increasing marine exports but would benefit tourism by providing cleaner and healthier beaches.
MD KW&SB also briefed the delegation about the greater Karachi water supply plan K-IV. Furthermore, planning has been completed and funds have been allocated for both projects. He briefed that both projects are in the initial phases, and said that after completion of K-IV citizens of Karachi would not face water shortage for next 30 years with 1200 cusecs additional supply to Karachi. WB delegation praised KW&SB's efforts to increase revenue and stabilisation of water supply infrastructure. They also expressed their interest in future collaboration.-PR
