Central leader of Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Senator Raza Rabbani on Wednesday said international establishment, strategic situation of the country and personal slackness of elected party members were main causes of PPP's defeat in general elections 2013.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club. Waqar Mehdi and Latif Mughal were also present on the occasion. Rabbani said that despite reservations over results of general elections, PPP accepted the mandate of the parties and now it would discharge its responsibility in National Assembly as opposition.
He said anti-democratic forces tried to derail the democratic system in the country during the last five years but people of Pakistan foiled their conspiracies. He said the passage of 18th and 19th Amendments by PPP-led government was a millstone in the history of the country.
Rabbani said Balochistan government failed to implement Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan Programme during five years, which led to party's defeat in the province. He said that education and health sectors were provincial subjects, now any kind of effort to revert these sectors to federation would be unacceptable. He said that PPPP would follow a seven-point agenda as opposition in National Assembly like economic revival, crises control, restoration of trade unions, implementation of 18th Amendment, independent foreign policy, restoration of law & order in the country, proper terrorism policy against anti-state elements, completion of Pak-Iran Pipeline Project and Gwadar Port.
He said Taliban targeted left-wing parties in general elections, but right wing parties enjoyed their support under a pre-planned conspiracy. He thanked people of Sindh for giving mandate in the province to the party of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
He claimed that PPP would give exemplary performance after forming government in Sindh and come into power in centre again on the basis of its performance. Dubbing PML-N as party of capitalists, Rabbani said that its policies had always been anti-labours.
