Power situation has improved in the city, especially during the evening hours when duration of load shedding has decreased soon after the Election Day. Also, the textile industry sources said energy supply, including electricity and gas, was up to the mark in accordance with the announced schedule. There is no unannounced load shedding of electricity right after the elections, said the industry sources.
The domestic consumers have also pointed out that power supply during the wee hours has improved. There was power load shedding after every alternate hour prior to elections but power supply sustains for almost three hours during peak hours, said one housewife. The electricity consumers have given clear majority to the PML-N in order to get rid of power crisis.
There were strong impressions that former Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif would be the Minister of Water & Power for next five years. However, latest signals from the PML-N suggest that Shahbaz Sharif would assume office of Chief Minister Punjab for next five years. It has irked the opposition camps whose supporters have raised eyebrows, saying that Shahbaz Sharif should fulfil his commitment of becoming Minister for Water & Power and bring electricity load shedding to an end. Only the upcoming days will make clear what move the PML-N is going to take on this front.
