The top most priority of the new elected government would be to overcome economic crisis posed to the country, PML-N senior leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said. While addressing the newly elected independent MNAs-MPAs-elect and their supporters who formally announced to join the PML-N at Raiwind on Wednesday, Shahbaz said the PML-N, despite enjoying majority in Centre and Punjab would take along other parties in the larger interest.
"There would be such a government in Centre which would be representative of federation in true sense," he said. The PML-N leader said, "We are well aware of challenges and difficulties being faced by the country as well as nation and all out efforts will be made to tackle them." He said the new government would focus on increasing revenue, curtailing non-developmental expenditures and set priorities for the benefit of countrymen.
Welcoming the joining of the PML-N by independents, he said this would not only cause stability to the new government but also help strengthen democracy in the country. He said the PML-N believes in service to the masses and results of May 11, 2013 general elections are prove to this fact. Shahbaz said that projects like laptops and solar lamp distribution, educational scholarship and Ashiana Housing Scheme would be replicated in other parts of the country.
Moreover, the MNAs-elect Khusro Bakhtiar, Najaf Sial, Hafiz Abdul Karim and Sahibzada Nazir Sultan and MPAs-elect Tariq Mahmood Bajwa, Azam Cheilla met the PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and announced to join the PML-N. The PML-N MNA-elect Sardar Jaffer Khan Leghari accompanied by his wife Meena Leghari also met Nawaz Sharif and discussed post-election scenario.
Further, the PML-N has started contacting other political parties and independent candidates to form government in Balochistan. The PML-N MNA-elect Sardar Ayaz Sadiq who defeated PTI Head from Lahore has left for Quetta to hold talks with independents and other like-minded parties for the formation of government there. As per unofficial results, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) and PML-N have nine seats each in the provincial assembly of Balochistan.
On the other hand, the PML-N has completed homework for the formation of new government in Centre in which allies of the PML-N particularly from smaller province would be given important slots like Speaker and Deputy Speaker of national assemblies. The name of Mehmood Khan Achakzai is under consideration for the slot of NA Speaker while the name of a woman is under consideration for Deputy Speaker's post. Furthermore, sources claimed that the PML-N is in touch with Sherazi brothers of Sindh and talks are underway to convince them to join the PML-N.
