An independent candidate from NA-39 Orakzai Agency, Abbas Raza demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to declare the election results null and void in this constituency after allegedly polls rigging and to take stern action against involved people in the rigging.
Addressing at a press conference at press club on Wednesday, Abbas Raza informed that more than 40 candidates had contested election from NA-37, wherein a total of registered voters approximately 100,000 in the constituency. "There was no transparency and fairness in elections, and ECP rules were totally ignored", Raza said. He added that unprecedented rigging was done in the election in NA-39 Orakzai Agency.
Flanked by another candidate from constituency Shafiq Hussain and others, he alleged the election commission staffs had involved in polls rigging, added that the bogus ballots were polled in office of district election office, which was oblivious evidence of unfair conducting of the elections. "We will not accept unfair results and would continue protest till holding of free, fair and transparent election in NA-39, he said.
Raza accused that an independent candidate Dr Ghazi Jamal for allegedly involved in poll rigging in this constituency. He said that more than 9,000 votes were polled out of which 15 per cent were bogus. He said that finger prints had either missed or fake on thousands of ballots papers, which was worst kind of poll rigging. He, therefore, demanded the ECP should re-verify finger prints by Nadra.
He also demanded for holding re-election on this constituency NA-39 Orakzai Agency. Meanwhile, addressing at a separate press conference, Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad Orakzai from NA-39 Orakzai Agency, refused the allegations of independent candidates regarding poll rigging the constituency. He said the elections were held in free, fair and transparent manner. He said the protests and agitation campaign was aimed at sabotage the peaceful environment in Orakzai Agency, demanding the authorities to take stern against the agitators carrying out protest on name of polls rigging. "Everybody should accept the mandate of candidate who won election of this constituency," he said. He said that all candidates contested election from this constituency had fully accepted the results.
