The Lahore High Court Friday suspended Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) notification for ad hoc regional committees. Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan passed the order on petitions filed by Muhammad Anwar, President regional cricket association, Faisalabad and others. The court also sought reply from PCB by May 20 on the petitions. Earlier, petitioners' counsel arguing before the court submitted that the regional committees' term expired on September 12, 2011 but the elections were conducted.
However, Chairman PCB through a notification dated May 9, 2013 appointed ad hoc committees, he added. The counsel contended that the step taken by the chairman was illegal as he did not have authority for it. He pleaded the court to set aside the notification being illegal and unlawful. He also pleaded the court to suspend the notification till the final decision of the petition. The court after hearing the arguments suspended the notification and also sought reply from the PCB till May 20.
