Rice prices were sharply higher on the wholesale grain market on Saturday as some needy buyers back to the arena to meet urgent requirements, dealers said. Most of the changes were seen on the rice sector, where Irri-white (broken) low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2900 and the best quality was up by Rs 50 to Rs 2950, Irri-6 Sindh low type followed same pattern, gaining Rs 25 to Rs 3500 and the good quality appreciated by Rs 50 to Rs 3600, they said.
On the cereals side, Makai low type was higher by Rs 250 to Rs 3000 and the fine type gained Rs 188 to Rs 3063, Khandsari went up sharply by Rs 500 to Rs 7500, other items maintained overnight levels in the process of trading, they said. Only one change was seen on the seeds side, where cottonseeds oilcake with bag Sindh (new), inferior type was down by Rs 100 to Rs 1000 and the good variety was lower by Rs 10 to Rs 1240, they said. Prices were unchanged on the grams side, they said.
