A blind professor, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Sheikh, former Associate Professor of English, Government College, Sargodha, has asked the Vice Chancellor Punjab University to allow audio recording to all blind students in examinations on the pattern of Punjab Public Service Commission.
Talking to APP by telephone on Sunday from Sargodha, Dr Iqbal who is also editor of monthly magazine, "Sufaid Charri" said that he had emailed his application dully recommended by the college principal to VC PU Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran that he was appearing in LLB exam of the PU and he may be allowed the facility of audio recording during the examination.
Dr Iqbal, who is also an author of 30 books, said that he had lost his sight at the age of 8 and continued a hectic struggle for a master's degree in English and PhD in Iqbaliat. He also served for 30 years in Special Education Department PU and Government College Sargodha.
He said now he intends to learn about the law and finally will appear in LLB exam in which he needs permission of VC PU as PPSC through letter singed by its Secretary Nayyar Iqbal, all blinds have been allowed to avail the facility of audio recording. He said "Blinds are happy that the VC through his epoch making decision has allowed all special students complete free education in the PU upto PhD including free transportation and free hostel facility besides scholarships to needy".
