The country is in grip of severe heat wave, with temperatures reaching up to 48.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Sunday's highest temperatures was recorded in Dadu 48.1 followed by Larkana, Moenjodharo, Shaheed Benazirabad, (Nawab Shah), Jacobabad, Noorpur Thal 47 C, Bahawalnagar 46.2, Sukkur 46 C, Shorkot, Faisalabad. Bahawalpur, Lahore, Sargodha, Sialkot, 45 C, Rahim Yar Khan, Mangla, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sahiwal, Multan, Sibbi and Turbat 45 Centigrade.
In its forecast for Monday, the Met Office said that the weather will remain mainly hot and dry. However, dust thunderstorm/rain with strong winds is likely to occur at isolated places of Malakand, Mardan, Hazara divisions, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir. Also, dust thunderstorm/light rain with strong winds may occur at one or two places of Peshawar, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Sargodha divisions.
While mainly very hot and dry weather with chances of dust raising winds in plain areas is expected over rest of the country. In Lahore, young boys have found a fool-proof way of beating the heat by jumping into the cool be seen on the banks of the canal to beat the heat and the prolonged load-shedding.
