A spokesman of Punjab Health Department Sunday clarified that the vaccine being administered to children for protection against measles is of international standard and there is no question of its being substandard.
The spokesman said that there is no doubt about the quality and standard of the anti-measles vaccine because Pakistan and Punjab government had purchased this vaccine from Unicef which is the only supplier of the vaccine to the whole world. He said that the same vaccine supplied by the Unicef to the other countries of the world is being provided to Pakistan.
The spokesman further said that Health Department has established an excellent cold chain system for maintaining the quality of vaccine and it is stored in accordance with the guidelines of WHO. The spokesman further said that after vaccination, it takes at least three weeks before resistance against this disease is developed in a child. He said that instead of treatment of children at home, the parents should bring the affected child immediately to government hospital so that proper healthcare facilities could be provided to the patient and further complication is avoided.
