Seats reserved for women in Sindh PA: ECP to notify parties' candidates as MPAs shortly
Candidates of Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N, People's Muslim League (PML) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will be notified as members of Sindh Assembly on the seats reserved for women within next couple of days.
PPPP's former MNA Shagufta Jumani, former Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Syeda Shehla Raza, former adviser to Chief Minister on Media Sharmila Faruqui, Iram Khalid, Nusrat Sultana, Kulsoom Chandio, Shehnaz Begum, Rehana Laghari, Shamim Mumtaz, Dr Sajeela Laghari, Rukhsana Parveen, Shaheena, Ghazala Siyal, Rubina Qaimkhani, Saira Shahliani, Farhat Seemen and Falak Naz alias Farheen Mughl likely be MPAs on reserved seats for women in Sindh Assembly.
MQM's Sumeta Afzal, Bilquees Mukhtiar, Heer Sohu, Ayesha Khatoon, Rana Ansar, Naheed Begum, Shazia Jawaid, Irum Azeem Farooque, Naila Munir, Shahnaz Saifuddin Bhora and Anwar Fatima are likely be notified as provincial lawmakers. PML-F's Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Nusrat Sehar Abbasi, Samina Nasreen, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim's renamed party, People's Muslim League's Kamla Bai, Kishoo Bai, PML-N's Soorath Thebo and Mukhtiar Nazo, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Seema Zia and Ambreen Sehti are among those candidates who are likely be notified as MPAs.
Out of the total 168 seat of Sindh Assembly, 29 seats are reserved for women and nine reserved for Minorities/Non-Muslims. After the May 11 polls, PPPP became single largest party in Sindh Assembly followed by MQM so maximum seats of women reserved would go to the two parties.
The ECP has to notify all the MPAs and MNAs till May 23, and after which the commission will notify the women MNAs and MPAs, an expert said. According to him, ECP has already the list of parties' nominated candidates on reserved seats for women and it will notify them.
