The Learning Alliance International Baccalaureate seminar, held on April 26, did a tremendous job of introducing the IB Middle Years Programme to the parents of Class IV, V, & VI students. The IB Programme has been around since 1968 and is being followed by 3,567 schools in 145 countries world-wide. However, in Pakistan, Learning Alliance will be among the avant-garde schools to launch this programme.
Ms Anjum S Ahmed, Principal and CEO of Lahore Preschool & Learning Alliance, considers the time ripe and feels that her team is now ready to launch this programme with full zest and energy. Nael Ahmed, Director Operations at Learning Alliance, introduced the strong faculty he has been able to assimilate and felt confident that this team will take on the challenge and live up to the high expectations set by the IB Board.
Taimoor Bandey, the head of the IB MYP Programme at Learning Alliance, shed light upon the fact that there was much need to move away from the ubiquitous rote learning and engage children in critical thinking, reflection, and taking responsibility for not only their own actions but also of the environment around them.
Ms Farah Masood, Co-ordinator of the IB Middle Years Programme at Learning Alliance, gave a detailed overview of the MYP's 8 core subjects, her training, along with the training of the Head and teachers by the IB Professional Development Team, and the MYP smart classrooms with state of the art technical support. She also spoke about the assessment standards of the IB that are consistent throughout the world.-PR
