Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister for Information and Social Welfare, Mossarat Qadeem has directed the Council of Social Welfare for devising an effective criterion for funding the NGOs and community based units, which she said played vital role in helping the needy people.
She issued these directives while chairing a meeting of the council here on Thursday. The meeting besides Secretary Social Welfare, Syed Khalid Hussain Gillani, was also attended by members of the council. She further directed to come up with such viable suggestions and proposals which could ameliorate the lot of poor people. She also directed the high-ups of her department to make best use of the resources of Social Welfare Department for the betterment of destitute and poor people in the society as social welfare was the only sector through which ailing and needy community could be efficiently served.
The meeting, while discussing the agenda, also reviewed implementation status of the past performance of the council and took certain decisions on the spot. The council also approved job and financial aid for family of the driver of the council who was martyred in the Yakatoot bomb blast last month.
Mossarat Qadeem called upon the quarters concerned to introduce public-private partnership in the women skill development sector in a bid to improve standard of its products. She further stressed to modify the products in line with the market needs and explore maximum market for it on the national as well as international level. She on this occasion also directed that deserving people should get the grant-in-aid and support the people-friendly-communities on need basis instead of individual.
