Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has reiterated that if the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) does not pay heed to their demand of recounting in 25 constituencies, the PTI will continue its peaceful protest. He was talking with media after enquiring about PTI chief Imran Khan's health at his residence here on Thursday. He further said if the new government does not address the prevailing crises, the PTI would play an effective opposition role.
"The people are not satisfied with the final results of general elections and it is constitution and democratic right of the party to protest," he added. He welcomed the meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and added that it is good for democracy.
PTI leaders Ayla Malik, Shafqat Mahmood, Mian Azhar also visited Imran Khan to enquire about his health. Meanwhile, in a statement PTI president Lahore, Abdul Aleem Khan said once again the PPP and PML-N has proven that they are together to attain power; the N-League is fooling the masses, as in the past they were raising slogan of 'go Zardari go' and now it has joined hands with the PPP.
He said those who were accusing Imran Khan of supporting Zardari should open their eyes and see the ground reality. "Time has proved that Imran Khan gave a true picture to the masses during the election campaign. All other political parties tried only to stop the way of PTI and used all tactics for this purpose. Rigging was a part of that campaign on which people now reacting and would protest it in Islamabad," he added.
