Although distancing itself from the issue of Asad Rauf's alleged involvement in Indian Premier League (IPL) match-fixing scandal but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would be formulating Code of conduct for its umpires in near future. "In our next board meeting we are going to formulate a code of conduct for our umpires and if someone breaches it then the board would take strict action," Zaka Ashraf told reporters in Lahore.
However, PCB chief added that the board has nothing to do with Asad Rauf's case as he was an ICC's appointed umpire and was officiating in an Indian event, which certainly does not fall in PCB's jurisdiction. "It happened in an Indian event and on Indian soil, so we have nothing to with it. Moreover, Asad Rauf was ICC's appointed umpire," Zaka clarified. But he said that the incident has cautioned the board and therefore the board would be formulating the code of conduct for its umpires as well.
He said that Pakistan cricket has moved on after 2010 spot-fixing scandal, where three of Pakistan's top cricketers were jailed in England and banned from cricket after found guilty of spot-fixing. "After going through a tough time after 2010 spot-fixing scandal, we have moved on. After the unfortunate incident, we have formulated a strict code and have strengthened our vigilance on players, reducing the risk of another untoward incidence," Zaka Ashraf added.
