The Karachi Port handled 128,161 tonnes of cargo comprising 93,968 tonnes of import cargo and 34,193 tonnes of export cargo including 5,408 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 93,968 tonnes comprised 41,944 tonnes of containerised cargo; 604 tonnes of general cargo and 51,420 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 34,193 tonnes comprised 22,007 tonnes of containerised cargo; 71 tonnes of general cargo; 10,135 tonnes of bulk cargo: and 2,263 tonnes of cement; 7,872 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 1,980 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,408 containers comprising 3,659 containers import and 1,749 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 916 of 20's and 1,113 of 40's loaded while 393 of 20's and 62 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 584 of 20's and 273 of 40's loaded containers while 17 of 20's and 301 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are three ships namely Kota Arif, APL Brisbane and Pona with three container ships sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are six vessels viz APL Sharjah, Taipei, Ever Result, Bunga Kantan Dua, Tamar and POS Almadin with three container ships, two oil tankers and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
There are five ships namely Taipei, Ever Result, Captain Costas, United Grace and UBC Canada with three container ships, one oil tanker and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Bunga Kantan Dua with one oil tanker is expected to sail on Saturday. There are two vessels viz YM West and Andre Rickmers with one container ship and one steel billets carrier respectively due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz Tasanee, Northern Power, Maliakos, Med Pacific and Evian with three container ships, one chemicals carrier and one rock phosphate carrier respectively due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 115,601 tonnes comprising 85,505 tonnes of import cargo and 30,096 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,221 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 85,505 tonnes includes 35,402 tonnes of diesel oil and 50,103 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 30,096 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,221 containers comprising 2,637 containers import and 1,584 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There are two ships namely CV Hammonia Pacificum and CV NYK Kai with containers sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, on Friday morning.
A total number of four vessels viz CV Hammonia Pacificum, CV Caribbean Sea, CV NYK Kai and MT Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as two ships namely MT Lahore and Arietis with furnace oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There is one vessel viz MV Bulk Pangaea with coal is expected to take berth at Iron Ore & Coal Berth (IOCB) on Friday.
There are three ships namely CV President Adam, MT Kalamas and MV Princes Park with containers, furnace oil and phosphoric acid due to arrive on Saturday. There are nine vessels viz CV Sealand New York, CV Nysted Maersk, CV Maersk Memphis, MT Wan Zhou Xing-9, MV Spring Sunshine, MV Norgas Innovation, MV Asian Express, MV Port Menier and MV Star Grace with containers, palm oil, fertiliser, chemicals and cement respectively are also due to arrive as per arrival schedule.
