Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Saturday announced it will contest the elections for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in National Assembly. Members of MQM's Co-ordination Committee said that they had asked other opposition parties to support its candidates in the National Assembly. They said that MQM would play its role in strengthening and promoting democracy, besides working for the welfare of the people while sitting on opposition benches.
Committee members said they were in contact with all political and religious parties in the National Assembly for the nomination of the leader of the opposition. They said that MQM "firmly believes in holding negotiations on all issues".
