I feel sincerely privileged and thrilled to have for a fourth consecutive year the honour to celebrate here in Karachi the National Day of Italy, and the opportunity to express, on behalf of the Italian Consulate and its staff, of my countrymen residing here and those regularly visiting this megacity, our deep appreciation to the Authorities and to the people of Karachi for their proactive sense of hospitality that makes us feel welcome and so well looked after, notwithstanding the numerous challenges endured by the resilient population of this city as so often being reported in the daily media.
The Consulate of Italy in Karachi, under the auspices of H.E. the Ambassador of Italy Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani has endeavoured to cater efficiently to the demands of its local Italian and Pakistani public, be it in the visa and consular services sector or in supporting and co-organising cultural initiatives or else, in assisting our visiting entrepreneurs to familiarise with the local business environment. We will strive to do better.
The special attention reserved to Karachi by our Embassy in Islamabad is witnessed by the frequent presence here of H.E. Ambassador Chiodi Cianfarani, for a comprehensive range of activities including the first-ever Italian co-sponsorship of the Karachi Literature Festival and several addresses and visits, a.o. to the Italian-supported Karachi Kidney Centre and to the Joint Interdisciplinary archeological Excavation and Research project in Bhambore.
With the support of the other Italian and bilateral institutions in Karachi, such as the Italian Trade Office, The Centre of Italian Language and Culture at the Karachi University and the Italian Development Committee, we intend to keep working to improve the promotion of our culture and to enhance our economic relations, all of which may hopefully characterise another year of our presence in Karachi.
In this regard, the recent successful conclusion of the electoral exercise for which I sincerely admire and vigorously congratulate the people of Pakistan, will undoubtedly provide a conducive platform to build on with a rejuvenated thrust for the realisation, I hope, of a number of fresh initiatives particularly in the economic and cultural domains.
This is the right occasion to publicly thank all men and women, whether Government representatives or administrative executives, whether in their private capacity or as heads of Cultural, Educational or Corporate entities, who have constantly being supportive of the Italian Consulate endeavours, all of you who have shown your friendship and solidarity or conveyed to us your greetings: I am sincerely touched by the great number of messages of support and appreciation, which deserve to be recognised and rewarded through more and more efforts on our side to provide the best of Italy in all fields.
In conclusion, let me express also on behalf of the staff of the Consulate of Italy the best of luck to my Country, to our host Country, to our Nationals in Pakistan, to all our friends for yet another year of improvement and progress.
