At least eight persons, a local leader of Jamaat-i-Islami and three workers of Sunni Tahreek among them, in different incidents of violence in the Sindh metropolis on Sunday, police and rescue sources said. A local leader of Jamaat-i-Islami named Hanif Ansari,55, was shot dead in Sector D of Surjani Town in the limits of Surjani police station. Police said that the deceased was killed by armed men on a motorcycle outside his house. The body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Panic gripped the area after the shooting incident and shopkeepers were forced to close their businesses. A man named Mohammad Rafiq, 27, was shot dead in Bhains Colony in Landhi in the limits of Shah Latif Town police station. According to police officials, the man was critically injured in firing by unknown armed men who barged in to his house. His brothers Abdul Karim and Abdul Majeed were also injured in the incident. The injured were rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where Mohammad Rafiq succumbed to his injuries. Police has registered a case.
A man was found dead in the Malir area near Shaban Garden in the limits of Malir City police station. The deceased was later identified as Imam Jan, 17. Police shifted the body to Edhi morgue.
Two men, whose identities were not ascertained till the filing of this report, were found dead in Murad Ali Goth near Kathor Mor in the limits of Gadap City police station. Police shifted the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Bodies of both victims bore torture marks. The bodies were later moved to Edhi morgue for identification.
Three workers of Pakistan Sunni Tahreek were gunned down in Shah Faisal Colony No5 near an imambargah in the limits of Shah Faisal Police station. The deceased were identified as Yasir, Jawad and Irfan. The bodies were later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
