Punjab Chief Minister Najam Sethi has said that sports play an important role in the creation of a healthy society and there is a need for effective measures to promote sports activities in the society. While addressing a reception held in honour of the players who won Ju-Jitsu Asian Championship on Monday, the Chief Minister said that Pakistani Ju-Jitsu team has brought honour to the country by winning Asian Championship four times consecutively and its members are national heroes.
He said that it is necessary to promote Ju-Jitsu at the lower level and assured that all out cooperation would be extended for this purpose. Director General Punjab Sports Board, Director Sports, President and General Secretary Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation, coach of the Pakistani team besides Vice President and office-bearers were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs 5 million for the promotion of Ju-Jitsu in Pakistan. Addressing the function, Chief Minister Najam Sethi said that it is a matter of pleasure that Pakistani players have won Ju-Jistu Asian Championship four times consecutively and they must be congratulated on their performance.
