The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave one more day to a petitioner's counsel to complete his arguments while hearing identical petitions against former President and army chief Pervez Musharraf. During the course of hearing, a three-judge bench of Justice Jawwad S Khawaja said the court had to decide about Article 6 of the Constitution for all times to come.
A. K. Dogar, representing Maulvi Iqbal Haider, submitted that the November 3, 2007 action was unique in the whole world adding that the former president had the knowledge of the case and a notice was issued to him. Dogar repeated his arguments, saying that Hamid Khan, in his petition, had challenged the November 3, 2007 action and had prayed for the trial of Musharraf. However, Justice Khilji said it was not the prayer but the contention of Hamid Khan that Musharraf should be tried under Article 6 of the Constitution for allegedly committing high treason. The hearing of matter was adjourned till June 5 (today).
